This... is how you should write all of your blogs. Not the argumentative click bait crap that I usually see... where you make ridiculous claims and typically argue against yourself from some previous blog. Just hockey. This is by far the best thing I've ever seen you write... and frankly...its not even close. Hopefully this is the start of a fresh new writing style/outlook from the main blogger of a team who has finally become relevant.

while I don't doubt the Coyotes to be frontrunners for Taylor Hall's services, the likelihood he signs a longterm deal with them is quite low, IMO.

Raanta isn’t 28. He’s 30, he turns 31 in May.

Why would they want Raanta if Blackwood is their goalie of the future? Or is that not the case?

Hopefully Ray can pull a heist off over the young Coyotes gm.

I know a lot of ppl speak of how strong the yotes are in the analytics but I remember hearing on at least 2 occasions of the devils bringing in some highly touted numbers guy so we will see if sunny mehta and this other guy are earning their pay!

The question remains would hall want to sign with a historically terrible team who just seems to be getting lucky goaltending. There’s no harm in pulling a Columbus with what you have but even with all their deadline additions I don’t think anyone had Columbus winning the cup in their fantasy pools. As well Arizona isn’t nearly as talented as Columbus at foreword/defence. I’d wait closer to the deadline to make this kind of a move since there is plenty of time for the wheels to fall off. For example the sens had 17 points in 14 games and were in a playoff position when they gassed Duchene. Adjust that for the 34 games Arizona has played and the sens one point back of them with 41. Not saying that would happen but you would be best to hold off for a while before mortgaging every for a player more likely to leave on July 1st than not.

Since sign and trades are pretty non existent in NHL, does Hall going to Arizona seem plausable? Hall went to a smal markel team in NJ, and I just don't see him signing in another small market/ non traditional market in Arizona. MTL, Pitt, Calgary, Colorado, and St. Louis seem to have an edge to sign him. I'd think he'd want to be on a big stage to spend the rest of his career.

I think Hall wants to win. I'm not sure why Arizona would be high on his list with his UFA leverage. It's only speculation but I would think he'll want to test the market. This could be a huge mistake by Chayka. He is doing it the wrong way.

Arizona is winning, but If only to rent Hall for the year, Yotes should pass

As long as the Coyotes don't give up more value than the 1st overall pick Hall will get them, or let Hall cripple their cap. He's never made a team better. The Devils got him almost for free and got worse. He couldn't elevate his game when he played with McDavid; the Coyotes don't have anyone better.

That said, not a Yotes fan, I just like Tanner's columns. As an Avs fan, DO NOT WANT Hall.

Common sense would dictate they he would want to sign long term with a more established team with a winning culture. Arizona isn't exactly that..are they?

It was two years ago Hall won the Hart and I assure you the Devils made the playoffs on Halls back. Then they got destroyed by Tampa, which is another story.

Hall did not make the Devils worse. Years of horrific drafting and overpaying second tier old FAs to remain relevant did. The Devils are in a situation where they are developing most of their young talent in the NHL and are having growing pains coupled with the fact that after two hip surgeries their franchise goalie isn’t even playing well in the AHL.

Hall would instantly make any team he’s traded to better.

Teams like Arizona and the Devils need to think big picture and longevity.

Agreed. I don’t see the fit in Arizona because I can’t see them offering the return other win now teams would, and I don’t see Hall extending there.

Have a feeling a team like the Bruins or Calgary make a last minute push to get him.

Honestly, if they can make the right deal, Hall not wanting to stay in NJ is a good thing for the Devils. They aren't good enough with him. Collect the future assets and build from within.

If it's with Arizona, who I actually follow along with my Devils it's probably going to include Soderstrom or Hayton or Oliver-Joseph plus.....as a Devil fan I would love to get Soderstrom but taking the Yotes side of me I would hate to trade him for a "rental". Now if somehow they get some insurances that if Hall likes Zona (and believe me most players like playing there and living there) he will sign there then maybe you make that trade. Not sure what Hall really wants at this stage of his career because "Top" teams can't offer the money he can get from the mid-tier teams. If it's just winning then that takes certain teams out or if it's money/a chance to win/be competitive then maybe a team like Arizona can entice him.
